FORGOTTEN HEROES CEREMONY AT SANTA FE NATIONAL CEMETERY

WVNM President Sarah Galpin and 1st Vice President Dorothy Seaton attended the Forgotten Heroes Ceremony at Santa Fe National Cemetery on September 22, 2017.
The ceremony honored 10 veterans including one woman veteran, US Navy SA Evelyn Moak who served from 7/8/52 -- 9/28/53.  WVNM President Sarah Galpin brought roses to honor SA Moak.

The Kirtland Air Force Base Honor Guard provided a rifle squad for the ceremony that was led by 1LT Christine Smith, who called out the commands for the rifle salute.  After the ceremony WVNM 1st Vice President Dorothy Seaton presented LT Smith a WVNM lapel pin.

The ceremony is held annually by the NM Department of Veterans Services and the Santa Fe National Cemetery.  "All honorably discharged veterans of the US Armed Forces deserve to be buried with full military honors.  They have earned this Final Salute.  No Honorably-discharged veteran will be alone at the end," according to The New Mexico Forgotten Heroes Burial Program.  (posted 9/22/17)
