The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a federal tax credit that encourages employers to hire workers from nine target groups. WOTC offers tax savings to employers who hire three types of veterans. Hiring unemployed veterans, disable veterans, and veterans receiving SNAP benefits can result in direct savings on federal business income or payroll taxes.
